Qandeel Baloch’s Murder,a disgrace for our society By: Khurram Zia Khan

Allah through Holy Quran vehemently stopped people  from indulging in killing by saying that.

“ He who kills a soul unless it be (in legal punishment) for murder or for causing disorder and corruption on the earth will be as if he had killed all humankind; and he who saves a life will be as if he had saved the lives of all humankind.” ( The Qur’an, Al-Ma’idah, 5:32)
We in Pakistan unfortunately follow the religion selectively and follow those portions of religion which suite us.
Honor killing is ripe in society and individuals and families indulging in this heinous crime are completely violating Islam and are calling for Allah’s wrath.
Religious scholars who give sermons on vulgarity should also talk in details against killing of women on one pretext or other.
Model Qandeel Baloch’s murder is another addition in country’s shameful history of honor killing. People indulge in this heinous crime should realize that there is no honor in killing and in reality it is a disgrace to kill somebody.
Social media reacted strongly against Qandeel’s killing. Below is how people including international community reacted on this shameful act

Misuse of Qisas and Diyat law allowed many criminals to go scot free particularly in the case of honor killing. I hope government of Pakistan should remove all flaws in existing laws so that murderers in all cases get their due punishment as per the laws of state

  1. Very good article focusing on a very very sensitive and significant, but equally complex, issue. We need to change the social behaviour and thinking pattern. Only legislation and punishment can not change the scenario.

  4. Absolutely, on spot. All of us Pakistanis not only practice religion on selective basis but we also look down upon others proudly. The more religious people get, the bigger their head swells with pride, which is a grave sin.

I wonder, why people hated Qandeel so much? When society should've been thankful to her for exposing Qawi, a wolf in sheep's skin, instead they got after killing the woman.

It hurts me to see women condemning her & appreciating her dishonorable brother. I think, it's more of jealousy. Every woman has a Qandeel Baloch in her. They were afraid their inner QB would be seen too. Where the real one was fearless, they only expressed their disgust freely.

Her murderers must be brought to justice and hanged publicly. Our people should know, how dishonorable honor killing is.
